Frequently Asked Questions
About the app
What is One Gita Verse?
A simple app that shows one Bhagavad Gita verse each day. You can read in English or Hindi. The app works offline with no account required.
Is the app free?
Yes. One Gita Verse is free with no subscriptions, paywalls, or ads.
Does it need internet?
No. Verses are stored in the app. Once installed, you can read offline.
Accessibility Service
Why does the app ask for Accessibility permission?
For an optional feature: a daily verse overlay when you open certain apps (like Instagram, YouTube, or WhatsApp). The service detects which app is in the foreground, nothing else. You can use the app without enabling this.
Does it read my passwords or messages?
No. We do not read, log, or transmit keystrokes, passwords, screen content, or messages. Only the app package name is checked to trigger the overlay, and only once per day.
How do I turn the overlay off?
Go to Android Settings → Accessibility → One Gita Verse and disable the service. Or uninstall the app. The in-app Today screen always works without this permission.
What happens if I do not enable Accessibility?
You can still use the complete reading experience. If you grant notification permission, the app can show one local daily verse notification instead. When Accessibility is enabled, the app does not post this notification because the overlay is used instead.
Are daily notifications sent from a server?
No. The notification is scheduled and generated on your device from verses bundled in the app. No notification data is sent to us.
Privacy & data
What data do you collect?
Almost none. Language preference, daily verse assignment, and local notification scheduling stay on your device only. We do not run accounts, analytics, or ad tracking. See our Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my data?
Clear app data in Android Settings, or uninstall the app. Details on our Data Deletion page.
